Be consistent and you WILL reach your Health and Fitness Goals!!

Yes, I’m back on the whole consistency thing….  Just wanted to remind you how successful you can be by just doing some light planning each week and then consistently following that plan…. This is not hard to do, but yes it can be painful – especially if you don’t want to make time to do it…

So – I recently found my weight creeping back up to 140 – again – because I was getting a little too lackadaisical in my planning…. Geeze – you can’t let your guard down for a second…  But guess what? After focusing for 2 weeks, and no cheats, I got myself back down to 132.6 just in time for our beach vacation!! Proving you can get visible results in a short period of time if you plan your food and exercises each week and then consistently follow that plan…  For me diet usually give me 90% of my results, and is the thing I have the hardest time with. Exercise is easy for me right now because I’m attending my husband’s boot camp three times a week, and I’ve been doing the “Couch to 5K” program 3 times a week – (Sorry, but you do have to move a little too ;))I’m not saying this will transform your body tomorrow, but if I can lose 1-2 lbs in a week, so can you! Just clean the cheats out of your diet and get moving.

…and speaking of cheats – and I know not everyone will agree with me on this, but if you know you are going to cheat, plan your cheats!! This is a great way to not feel overly deprived and give yourself a little something to look forward to without guilt. One of the key things when planning a cheat is to look at the nutritional content… For example from time to time I’d find myself at Dunkin’ Donuts having a reduced fat blueberry muffin – I mean how bad could it be – right?  Well recently I found out exactly how bad through google …… Ready – 450 cals, 11 fats and 81 carbs in one reduced fat muffin!! Honestly, I’m not sure I will ever eat one of those again – sometime when you see what your about to eat you have to ask yourself – Is it worth it? Sometimes it just might be and if it is, here is a little trick I use to try to get some balance. I try to have my treats or cheats on the days I have a more intense workout planned – on those days I hope to just break even on my cals in and out – again to being mindful of what you put in your body is a HUGE step in the right direction…. but like the lovely Valerie Waters says – all calories are not created equal – the types of calories you eat will determine if that little pudge in your thighs is going to move or not… and that is where I need my pudge to budge! So the question becomes to cheat or not to cheat?  hmmm – only you can answer that….;-)

Well that’s it for today – I hope you know that if you need to get yourself in tip-top shape for an upcoming event or vacation, you can do it!! You just need to focus, plan and be consistent!!
