You Can’t Out Train a Bad Diet – Part 2

MY FINDINGS:   Wow, if you view each day you will see I ate clean, for the most part – there were a few hiccups here and there due to my not feeling well… but you will also see the quality of food I put in my body and that it paid off big time!  I’m down 2.6 lbs and 2 inches in 7 days…. (.5 on my chest, waist, low waist and hips) that is a lot better than I had hoped for!! Also I did get some pretty intense exercise in… which next to food (in my opinion) is the second most important thing in weight loss…

To decipher each day which kept me averaging 1400 cals a day…

  • Breakfast: 4 Egg white and 1/4 cup dry Oatmeal
  • AM Snack: Veggie Juice with 5 jumbo shrimp on the side or 1 oz of Almonds – Juice consists of 1/2 celery stalk, about 1 – 2 oz beets, 1 oz of cucumber, 4 cherry tomato, 4 baby carrots and 1 tbsp of lemon juice – I actually like it…
  • Lunch: 1/2 cup of quinoa, 2 cups of salad, 3 broccoli trees, 1 tbsp of chia seed, 1/2 celery stalk and 1 oz of almonds
  • PM Snack: Green smoothie – 1/2 c frozen spinach, blueberries and cherries, 1 tsp of berry Metamucil, 1 tbsp Cacao powder and 1 scoop of EAS Whey Protein.
  • Dinners varied, but mainly consisted of about 4 oz of lean protein and Salad or veggies or healthy carbs.

Honestly my energy was through the roof, and I felt focused and happy – this way of eating is very similar to the Warrior Diet that Chad Waterbury discussed in his April 2011 blog, or similar to what you might have heard referred to as eating like a caveman – mostly fruits, vegetables, nut and lean protein… I know it seems extreme, but trust me I was the girl who use to eat fish sticks, Kraft macaroni and cheese, oh and my favorite – Eilio’s frozen pizza ….  I’m sure there is a happy medium in there for you some where…. but the key again is to find your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate) and figure out approximately what your body needs to eat to lose weight – I know that sounds crazy, but you HAVE to eat to lose weight….  Finding your BMR is not the magic key to weight loss,  but it is a great place to start.

I am happy to hear your thoughts or questions on what I’ve posted here or you can send me an email directly to leeanne.hebert@verizon.net.

I hope you all enjoyed my little experiment!!  I know I did and of course I would be happy to work with anyone needing assistance figuring this all out….

Gosh – right now I am so NOT loving that statement!  However, I know it’s true, especially after last week… I worked my tail off, but still gained .6 lbs! So what happened?? I entered my planned food and activity in Fitday, and then at the end of each day I entered what I actually ate… It’s funny how all the little things add up – like a cookie here, an extra handful of nuts and few piece of chocolate there, there and there – oh and we can’t forget that one full day of insanity, seriously I should have been committed last Tuesday! Ya ya – I know I should know better but I am only human, just like you and I do get a little lost sometimes. Honestly, this blog was not easy to write, but I thought sharing my failures as well as my success would be helpful. I know when I see others in the same boat as I am I tend to be a little kinder to myself.

So with less than 15 days until I hit the beach, I must keep my food super clean in order to get into my bikini and own it!  I may need the help of some mass humiliation in order to do that, yes to keep myself honest – so I’m going to post my food and exercises each day and then comment on it for the next 7 days – I would also love to know if you have thoughts on what I’m doing as well…. Oh and one more thing- I just want to repeat that I am not a huge fan of calorie counting, but I do think it’s a good exercise for a week or so, especially if your weight isn’t moving. My guess is that anyone who says that aren’t a fan of calorie counting is saying it because they have done it one or two times – and yes it is a painful process…. For me it is an eye opener, and moving forward it helps me to understand what I’m putting into my body….I like to do it every now and then to keep myself in check, but trust me, it isn’t something I want to think about day in and day out.

The other thing is check out Valerie (Waters) rule… Very interesting stuff…

Ok so here we go – my food so far
