Yup – you heard me right! Down 25 lbs from Jan 1st of this year!! Wow! and the best part is … I didn’t really kill myself doing it. I mean a few mini challenges here and there, but nothing like in the past.
I’ve written other blogs on putting yourself first, self-appreciation, loving yourself, finding balance, many self challenge blogs, and the same message rolls through each of them…. Planning + consistency = success.
Here is what I did and honest to goodness this is something each and every one of you can do….
On Jan 1 I took my measurements and weighted myself, I could tell I was heavy because my size 6 pants were getting skin tight. There was no way in hell I was going to buy 8s… When I got on the scale and saw 160 I could not believe my eyes! My heaviest 6 years ago was 147! Interestingly enough – my measurements were nowhere near that…. My hips were 42 inches at 147 lbs and 39 inches and 160 lbs!
Last year was a year of transition for me which distracted me from taking care of myself .. how many of you ladies can relate? Work, family, relationships etc. can kinda suck the life out of ya. I had to stop and take an honest look at myself and what I was doing. First I was drinking way too much – I have not touched a drop since March 25th and wow – talk about an instant weight reducer, not to mention a clarity in my life – amazing…. I started walking the dogs each morning 2 miles before work, luckily spring was a coming 🙂 and I’ve done this everyday since. I also started taking a nice hot bath each night to relax before bed – which is a slice of heaven. Also by doing this I’ve been sleeping better. I camped, I hiked, I kayaked – all in all one of the best summers I had in a long time – I really enjoyed myself. Stress level way down, happiness level way up…. Oh and I did smoke for a bit in there – what the hell was I thinking!
So far in September I traveled to Santa Monica to reunite with my lovely RCR sisters. What an amazing weekend. I planned a Halloween party for some folks, I’m planning a hike up Mt. Wachusett… and I have a few more adventures up my sleeve ;-).
Small little changes over the year have gotten me back to my goal weight without too much fuss. Next step is strength. Ugh – to hit the gym is not my idea of fun… I’ve done it for too long… However – I’d say since my other activities are so physical – I might only need two days a week to get the additional results I want… Plus I have my nifty pink Valside which make working out a bit fun.
Getting my head here took a long time, and believe me you can get there – But until you do – don’t stress, don’t beat yourself up, don’t hide your body… Just buy yourself some bigger jeans 🙂
