Be Good to Yourself

I know! Who would have thought the way you think about yourself can actually prevent weight loss!

This is a big one and should have been number one, but it is also the hardest thing for most people to come to terms with – including me!

Step 1 – Stop the negative self talk! NONE of us are perfect.

I want you to write down 5 things you like about yourself – ready, set, GO!

OK – I have to admit the first time I did this I had a complete mental block. It actually took me a few days and to be able to do this exercise. Honestly it wasn’t until I started to think about what I like about others before I could actually see what I liked about myself.

Here are my five:

  • I am a kind, caring and compassionate
  • I am fun and sometimes funny
  • I am a good friend
  • 9 out of 10 times I do the right thing
  • I do like who I am

Step 2 – I want you to write down 5 things you did right today, the kicker – try to do it as you catch yourself in some negative talk…. For example –

I ate 10 cookies – Ugh! I am so disgusting; I have no self control, no wonder no one… STOP! Now take a deep breath and be positive. Ok, so I ate 10 cookies – it’s done with – I need to move on and focus on my next meal and get it right – Maybe think about how to avoid those darn cookies next time, like not have them in the house. Or (this one is me) My pants are getting too tight again, what is wrong with me, why can’t I have more self control, blah, blah, blah….. STOP! Now breathe… OK I know why my pants are getting tight – If I don’t like it I should do something about it, but what?  I need to get back on track, make a plan, and take some action – we all know the drill.movie Logan streaming

Here is an example of 5 things I did right today…

  • I apologized, because I needed to.
  • I’ve made my plan for the week,
  • Completed my video and updated my blog.
  • Corrected some negative self talk, yeah the pants thing –
  • Told someone I love that I love them.
