How Personal Growth can improve your quality of life –

Today I want to talk about Personal Growth – Wikipedia doesn’t even have an entry for ‘personal growth’, although they do have one for personal development, which is described as: “… activities that improve self-knowledge and identity, develop talents and potential, build human capital and employability, enhance quality of life and contribute to the realization of dreams and aspirations.” – and yes, even I have to do some work in this area.  The health and fitness stuff comes easy to me – I know – you hate me right 😉  But we all have areas we want to improve on so we can reach our full potential. So I signed up for this AMAZING on-line course called “The BEauty Uprising” by Miss Kat Kim. Wow – this lady knows what is going on, and as I’ve said before, people seem to come into our life when we have a need – and this girl has got my back – jack!

Even though I can see what others may need, and ya I’ll say it – I’m good at it –  it’s hard for me to see what “I” need to grow as a person and push past what may be holding me back.  I am already seeing some amazing results – ugh – breaking down the walls of our past….. So what is the big take away for me so far…. First…. thoughts = feelings = behaviors = results.  Cool right?  I loved hearing Kat say “hey, none of this is your fault” – What? NONE OF THIS IS YOUR FAULT –  yup that’s what I thought she said.  All our “stuff” was adopted and molded from childhood, our past thoughts and beliefs create the way we see, perceive, understand and interpret things which is our Paradigm. The way we see things through our Paradigm is our truth, it’s our story, and guess what? We are allowed to write a new story!!

“So my new paradigm is to accept my past and understand that it is my past.” It’s over – period end of story.

Today I am a strong confident woman who has a lot to share with others. Myself for one – I am kind, caring and a wonderful friend. I have compassion for others. My strength comes from giving back – helping woman find what I’ve found which is a way to become strong and healthy internally and externally, to find joy, self-appreciation, self-love, to be kind and gentle with ourselves, and to take time for ourselves.  I am a diamond in the rough ladies – watch out cause I’m about to get my shine on – who wants to join me???

As you can probably see this whole process was very freeing for me – So …. What is your story? What is holding you back? Do you want or need to write a new story?

Next we did some work on core values… which I never really thought about and wasn’t sure what mine were, but I do now — so let me share. There are so many out there but the ones below seem to feel right to me and if you are able to stay true to your values, or what is really important to you- you can be nothing but happy in your life.

  • Balance – for me, encompasses friends, family and time on one side and my job, my blog, skin care etc. on the other side – just humming along with noooooo stress.
  • Beauty- yup, I’ve said it before, I’m a little vain, but don’t we all want to look good?  Beauty for me includes health, fitness, skin, hair, makeup and clothes – anything external that puts a little bounce in my step.
  • Integrity -Is being honest and trustworthy. I’ve also included strength, being an inspiration, being real, unique, being recognized as an expert and being able to lead others on their journey.

To some of us this may seem like some very deep stuff I know, but understanding your life story and its effect on how you are able to move forward in your health, fitness, and even personal goals are key – to hear more on the above click here (in about 2 min / 45 sec) to hear Kat talking about this herself is very motivating – it is only about 5 minutes long and honestly it may be the best 5 minutes you take for yourself today.
