Spotlight on Kat Kim and The BEauty Uprising!

I have been very fortunate to meet some amazing people over the past 4 years, this year through my friend Anne Samoilov and her Fearless Launch program where I met Miss Kat Kim creator of “The BEauty Uprising” (notice the BE U in there – Love that!). Right now Kat is giving away a FREE copy of her co-authored e-bookSocially Smart & Savvy(free offer for e-book expires on 9/21/2012)  This book is a great read, along with her 3 amazingly inspiring videos (which can also be found on my FB Fan page).

In these videos she touches on the 3 things you do to yourself when you look in the mirror, why your image is so important and the 4 components to your personal image if you ever want to leverage it and lastly, the one and only reason you’ve been struggling to reach your weight loss goal as well as other life goals.  These videos will blow your mind.

Kat is a National Certified Personal Trainer, a Certified Mindset Coach, an Image Consultant, a Former Stylist and a Law of Attraction teacher. What makes Kat an expert? Well, besides all of the above – Kat has been through her own transformation. For most of her life she struggled with weight, body and self-image issues to the point of self-hatred.  I can not believe this is the same girl.

Back to her free e-book – Kat’s section in this book is the last chapter, and the one that resonated with me the most. This is where she talks about being “Authentic” or  being true to yourself. Some of the questions she asks are:

  • Who decides what is important to me?
  • Who is in charge of me?
  • How do I make decisions?
    • How do I feel about this?
    • Does this align with my core values?
    • What will support my core values?
    • Does this feel right to me?

The truth of the matter is if you are being “True to You” – The feelings you have should be excitement, curiosity, fun, joy, alignment, ease, harmony, fulfillment, internal rightness, flow, resonance, satisfaction, and love…..

Wow – so then I thought  – What the hell are my core values? I know that my family and friends are important to me, security is important to me, but what more is there? What is it that I want out of life and how do I become my “Authentic” self??  Good grief – does everything have to be so difficult??  So I sat with this for a minute and realized what I really want out of life is to feel balanced, whole, and free… those 3 words felt right to me, but what do they actually mean?

First let’s start with the latest and greatest buzz word out there “Authenticity” – one definition is anything that is not forced, that feels natural and does not create internal upset, anxiety, stress, discomfort, anger or any other negative emotion.

Then I moved onto Balance – Tiny Buddha has some great info on this. Balance is feeling calm, grounded, clear-headed and motivated more often than not.

  • Internal Balance
    • Challenge yourself intellectually
    • Give love
    • Eat drink and exercise properly
  • External Balance:
    • Push yourself to achieve goals
    • Satisfy your social desires
    • Be an active part of your family
    • Allocate time for things you enjoy

If you feel pulled in any one direction you need to acknowledge it and take some time to look at your life and state of mind. Be honest and notice the area of your life you are neglecting. Examine the areas you would like to be more balanced in. Set goals, plan tasks, reflect, prepare, empower yourself, connect and plan….. You can get all the details by clicking here.

According to embodytantra.comWholeness is remembering you, allowing simple pleasures, allowing your animal nature to come back to life (um, I am a lioness – Roarrrrrrr), uncovering that vibrant inner voice that has been screaming for your attention.

We are whole when each aspect of our life, mind, body, and spirit is deeply integrated with our purpose, our daily choices and experiences….. This brings us right back to being true to you.

Lastly Freedom – Now this is probably not what you are thinking, this is more about mental freedom.

Tiny Buddha had some more great information on this called “4 simple steps to freedom…”

“True Freedom doesn’t come in the future, from a situation, or from anything at all, but is within you now.” – Gosh I love that….

Here are some ways to shift your thoughts so you can feel free, light and happy:

  • Don’t take anything personally
  • Don’t be a victim, instead embrace each and everything that happens as an opportunity
  • Be gentle, kind and compassionate with yourself and lastly which is HUGE for a lot of us –
  • Practice forgiveness…forgiveness releases the power that certain events have over you. By not forgiving you are keeping your mind in the past – feeling trapped and powerless. Forgiveness puts you back in the present – the only place you have true power.

Yikes! I have a LOT of work to do don’t I?  I still find it interesting how people come into your life when they have something you never knew you always needed. 😉  I am so thankful to have found Kat and can’t wait to see what she shares with us next!!
