Beach weather is almost done, fall clothing will be out before we know it so why bother trying to stay in shape – no one is going to see us again until next year right ??
That statement is true enough, but staying motivated is good for more than your physical state, it is good for your mental state. Having something to look forward to is the key to keeping you upbeat, happy, and joyful. Think about it – how do you feel when you have nothing going on – bored for one and what do we do when we are bored, not sure about you, but I snack – and not on the good stuff either. I also get tired, cranky, and restless. What a waste of life. The worst part is guess how hard you’re going to have to work to get back n bikini shape next year – Oy, I shudder to think about it.
So what is a person to do… Get creative! Do something crazy like calling a friend and say hey, how close are you to that 5k in October?? Guess who is flying to Michigan in October to run a 5k – Whoot! Super excited! So now I have to plan, I have just about 8 weeks to get in shape to run 3.1 miles. I also have a camping trip tentatively planned for Labor Day weekend, and am going to try to learn to play guitar. My brother is really good at it and showed me a few chords, plus lent me his spare guitar….
My point is when you create some excitement in your life, your life becomes exciting. I feel rejuvenated, I feel motivated, I feel fulfilled…. What an amazing amazing feeling. What can you do to push yourself outside your box of “ho-hum”? Can you join a group, pick up a hobby, volunteer at an animal shelter ;-), or perhaps sign up for a 5k?? Once you get the ball rolling, it starts to pick up speed and next thing you know – you are having the time of your life.
Hmmm – it seems I’ve been here before…click here
