The Superfood Experiment! Finally – Hempseed, Coconut and honarble mentions!

Hempseed

According to the author Hempseed is the superfood of the future…Hemp is currently used to make body care products, clothing and fabric, paper, rope, eco-friendly plastic and building materials. It also contains all essential amino acids and essential fatty acids necessary to maintain human life. The oil from hempseed has the highest percentage of essential fatty acids of any seed on earth and contains over twenty trace minerals.

Joy – this is for you… page 191… One of the best sources of plant protein and fat is found in Hempseed. It is a pure, raw source of complete protein. Packed with 33 to 37 percent digestible protein – raw hempseed completely in tact is one of nature’s riches sources of protein out there – Only algae such as spirulina, AFA blue-green algae and marine phytoplankton exceed hemp in protein. The challenge we face is that “high-protein” animal foods are becoming more and more difficult to obtain. Factory farmed beef, chicken, and fish are lower in protein and higher in fat and toxins…
Essential Fatty Acids in our diet is now considered a critical aspect of maintaining great health (pg 193). Hemp is one of the very few plants that contains significant amounts of omega-6 and omega-3. (My body does not like fish oil – kills me every time I take it – I have been putting the hemp oil in my smoothies and it doesn’t bother me one bit – I am very happy about this).
