Living Life on Life’s Terms

jackie My good friend Jackie took me Kayaking yesterday in Portsmouth NH – what a blast! It was perfect. We started the day hitting NO traffic (which is a miracle in itself) and ended the day with 2lbs of steamer overlooking the creek. Along with some great conversation with a woman I truly admire – couldn’t have had a better time.

Oh and this is me with the guide trying to see who has better abs 😉 Shaaaa-nanagans! I’m still a little chunkier than I’d like to be, but hey – that’s life – right? If I waited to reach my goal weigh to strut my stuff – I’d never do anything.

My point – Live your life in the body you have today – If I didn’t go to the beach because I wasn’t “bikini body” ready, buy myself a new outfit because I was not at my “goal” weight, didn’t treat myself to an ice cream (ok – that I do too often), or whatever my guilty pleasure of the day is – because I am trying to lose weight – what fun would life be. Granted – If you are on a mission to lose weight then make a plan (including treats) and be consistent – I promise, you will reach your goal – but don’t stop living.

Life on life’s terms… It’s called not sweating the small stuff. I finally get it – “carpe diem” baby – seize the day. Oooo, here is another one… they call today the present because it’s a gift. For way too long I was getting my panties all twisted because I didn’t have the body that I felt “society” perceived as being acceptable. I let it consume me day in and day out and stopped enjoying life. All day, every day all I thought about was what I was eating, exercising, getting on the scale, how gross my body was – ugh – it was exhausting.

Today – I still not where I want to be physically -but you know what – that will come with time. I don’t dwell on it day in and day out. I make a plan at the beginning of the week, and just do it – and that is the last time I think about it. I work on being comfortable in the skin I’m in TODAY – for example, those short I have on in the photos above were bought with purpose. I am not comfortable with the cellulite still hanging out on my thighs, so I bought myself some board shorts to cover them up – problem solved….not one time during the day did I feel uncomfortable or self-conscious about myself.

Life on Life’s terms – live long, love deeply and laugh often…. We only get one shot at it.
