Fit at 50 Baby!!

WOW! I cannot believe I did it or that I survived this last week!   These last 6 days have been HARD (I won’t bore you with the details, but you can find them on my blog under  if you want the low down). There are so many things going around in my head right now – joy, pride, utter shock, but the main one is this – if you want something bad enough and are willing to work for it, you can reach ANY goal you set for yourself.

On March 11, 2012, I took a look in the mirror and did not like what I saw looking back at me, and decided – enough. I wrote down some measurements and a weight I wanted to get back to and put together my plan. Today I am proud to say  I’ve hit each and every one of them!  I also did something I never thought I could do to reach that goal, which was 6 consecutive days of a very specific meal plan.  Normally I need a little wiggle room or I start to feel a little anxious. Truth be told I’m basically a spoiled brat, and as an adult, do not like to be told what I can or can’t have or can or can’t do, even by my own self if that makes sense – I suppose that is not really the adult side of me but my inner child throwing a tantrum – right?

The interesting thing is this – I believe a lot of what holds us back from reaching our health and fitness goals and even our life goals is fear.  Fear of failure, fear of being made fun of, or looking silly, or becoming an outcast in society!  I know, I’m getting a little dramatic here – but sometimes the stuff in our head is way bigger than the reality of it – and this 6 day food plan had me scared shitless!  I really put myself out there this time and the thought of putting everything I had into something and it not being “good enough” felt like the scariest thing on the face of the earth. I knew if I didn’t take some drastic action I would not reach my goal – and yes, it was P-A-I-N-F-U-L for me, not physically but mentally – and isn’t that really where all out battles are won – in our head?

So with all that said – as of today August 11, 2012 with 50 years on this earth under my belt – I am down 13 lbs and 16  inches ! Oh  and the above 6 day plan got me the 3 lbs and 2.5 inches I needed to hit it … and yes, I got my birthday wish – I AM Fit at Fifty!
