Everyone needs a bucket list…..

How many of us are just bored to death with life….. I feel like I go to work, come home, go to work, come home, go to work…you get the picture – and this isn’t to say I’m not happy – just a tad bored with myself.

This past Wednesday a friend of mine invited me to go to an indoor rock-climbing facility in Nashua, NH – Vertical Dreams and OMG was it super fun. Between that and attending a Military Ball last Saturday night with my sisters – I decided it is time to redo my vision board, to write a bucket list and like the song says start to “live like I was dying”… What’s brought all this on?? A few things actually – turning the big 50 in 6 months and also losing a very close cousin. Dickey gave us all the best gift ever – a “living wake”, well that is what he called it… once he found out the cancer was back, he invited everyone to visit him and we took tons of pictures – It was so good to see him in such great spirits, and I call it a gift because that is how I will always remember him… one thing he always wanted to do was go to Disneyland his son got it all set up for him, but he went too quick, which  was shocking since my sisters and I stopped in on Saturday and he was gone the following Friday….but we gave him a hell of a send off, just like he wanted.

As I thought about what I would put on my bucket list I realized that my ability to dream had become stagnant…. I mean I know I’d like to travel – go to Egypt, Italy, Greece – some exotic islands….but then I got stuck – like I said I went rock-climbing and really enjoyed it, but never thought about it before… so I do have a bit of research to do…..then in my best Carrie Bradshaw voice, I thought –  what is it that I never knew I always dreamed of doing??  🙂

I did come up with a couple of things…

First – I had written a short story for my niece Emilee when she was nine and her mom, my sister, was deployed to Iraq. It’s called My-oh-my Honey Pie…. as you can see it still needs some work. My hubby did have someone look at it and was told it needs a real ending which I’m going to have Emilee help me write – and yes it will be a happy one. My hope is to get it published and give it to the military to distribute as part of the U.S. Army Deployment Cycle Readiness Package given to the soldiers and their families before deployment. I’d love for it be used to provoke an open discussion between the solder and his/her children about their feelings and fears before they deploy. This was such a hard time for everyone in my family and the story reflects what the thoughts and fears of my niece were at the time.  God bless those who keep our families safe, and thank god my sister returned safe to us. (If anyone out there has any thoughts on how I can do this, please let me know.)

Another is my “Fitness Model at 50” challenge – I’d love to rock this challenge big time, get some photo’s done and an article published (even if it’s on another blog) on my accomplishments to inspire women of all ages and enforce that age does not matter – that you can be, look and feel however you want at any age.

Which brings me to a big one for me which is to launch my Body Transformation 101: Unlocking the secret to success program to the public on-line on May 2, 2012.  This will include everything I’ve learned, have tested and know works to transform a body – I created this 4 week program specifically for people who are challenged by their health and fitness goals to work for anyone, at any level. During this 4 week period I will discuss journalizing, hormones, planning, motivation, self-appreciation, body image, having a vision for your life, and of course nutrition and exercise. This program will give you the tools you need to succeed, the tools to push past what is holding you back, and perhaps get you in that swimsuit you’ve always wanted to wear. This is beyond diet and exercise; this is about finding what works for YOU in your life.

These of course are all very large and personal goals – but they are mine to make happen…

Oooo – flood gates opening ….. Maybe I’d like to hit one of Tom Morely’s yoga retreat’s, learn how to give a great lap dance (*wink*), belly dance at the Athenian Corner in Lowell.. As you can see I already have the outfit – I’m in white – my sister Marilyn brought them back from the Middle East. You get the picture – life is too short – having goals that are new and challenging and take us outside our comfort zone will help keep us young at heart.

What’s on your bucket list??
